The Zildjian G16AE18CR is an 18" Acoustic Electric Crash/Ride cymbal. The Zildjian Gen 16 Cymbals are considered acoustic/electric because unlike other electronic cymbals they use a mic and software samples to get the sounds instead of triggers and electronics. Also unlike most other electronic cymbals these are made by Zildjian out of metal and are actual real cymbals. They are 80% quieter than regular cymbals by using a unique dampening method Zildjian came up with on their own. The cymbals all get the sound from a control unit that triggers the Gen16 software. The Gen16 software library has tons of original Zildjian cymbal samples so you have access to a ton of real cymbal sounds that are as accurate to the original as possible.
